Trail Runners
Hiking, bicycling, and horseback riding are some of the best ways to explore Prince George's County's natural beauty. Approximately 90 miles of hiker/biker/equestrian trails run throughout Maryland-National Capital Parks and Planning Commission's (M-NCPPC) park system. This includes fitness trails, hiking trails, walking loop trails and nature trails are also located in neighborhood and community parks.

Trail Hours

The trail system is open for public use from sunrise to sunset each day. As you plan your excursion, please check out our Tips for Trail Safety.

Trails Master Plan

The Trails Master Plan will guide the development of the countywide park trail system that supports recreation opportunities and connectivity while balancing resources (staff/funding) to maintain and expand the system.

Trail Projects

Two current trail projects are scheduled to open for public access in early 2019. These trails will connect communities and facilitate access around major highways in the area. As we continue to grow and expand to meet your needs, review information about these trails, as well as other Department of Recreation New & Ongoing Projects in more detail.
